Final piece duration: ~12 hours
'La Borboleta' is my Final Major Project of my third-year university course. Drawing influences on the narrative storytelling of games like Uncharted and The Last Of Us, this story centres around the rise of the economic and ultramodern aspects of Rio De Janeiro in the year 2040. With a territorial battle raging between the expanding city limits and the surrounding dense favelas - home to those driven out of the city - the story follows a young boy (Mateus) on a journey of ascension and coming-of-age as he finds those responsible for the death of his father and finds new family along the way.
Alvin Barnabas 'Barney' Bunker is a British office worker and designer who is unwillingly sent to Rio to present his products at the annual shareholder exhibition. He is underprepared for the journey and finds himself completely out of place in this bouncing hub of technology, consumerism and wealth. As the character struggles throughout his journey, he ditches his heavy, sweat-ridden tweed attire and opts for cheap souvenir clothing alternatives, sporting a very disjointed tourist-y look.
